Closing a Chapter

Happy Monday! Now that our wedding season has wrapped up, I thought it was an appropriate time to announce some big changes for jenna rose photography. As many of your already know – we are expecting a baby boy this coming Spring! We are beyond excited, and so far I’ve had a dream pregnancy. We are so thankful!

For the past year, Nathan and I have been discussing the future of our photo business and what that would look like when we started a family. Many of these reflective conversations happened during our trip to Europe this past summer, over coffee and way too many pastries!

For the past 4 years, I have photographed weddings, portraits, babies, families, seniors, etc on the side to working full-time in college admissions (which I love!). Over the past 6 months especially, have given me the time and space to really reflect on this next season of life, and what I want that to look like. In general, Nathan and I have been simplifying our lives in a number of ways – getting rid of things we don’t need or don’t use, saying no to invitations (which is really hard!) or over-planning our weekends – simply to have more time. More time to sit at home together and do nothing. To read. To travel. To spend time with family and friends. I was finding that in the busy season of photography, we would work our full-time jobs M-F (Nathan is the Creative Director for an advertising agency) and then shoot either a wedding or portraits on the weekend, followed by hours of editing, leaving very little time in between to just breathe and enjoy our life without a schedule already planned out. With a baby on the way – those feelings of needing to slow down just intensified (some call this nesting!?).

So, while there are many mixed emotions – I know that the time has come to close the final chapter of  jenna rose photography. We are beyond grateful for all of the past clients we have worked with, the weddings you have allowed us to capture, the homes you have invited us into – it really has meant so much. After 4 years – this decision has been extremely difficult to reason with – but when you know something is right – you have to follow that.

So what’s next? Well, in addition to preparing for the arrival of our son, Henry Wilder Evans (cute name, right?) I will be taking some time to explore some other creative outlets I have long been interested in pursuing, now that I have some time on my hands. It’s fun to start to dream again of new things, and new adventures! Our little mid mod Denver home is getting very cozy for the holidays, so there will be many nights of watching favorite movies and baking. I have toyed with the idea of starting a personal blog – to share stories from our everyday life – so we’ll see if that happens or not in the coming months. So there you have it!

We SO appreciate all the love and support with this decision – and are grateful for all the fun memories this business has provided us over the past few years.

All the best,

Jenna + Nathan

Happy Thursday!

As the weather grows colder, I wanted to share some photos from the last wedding we photographed – on what might have been the last golden day of fall in Denver. The day started off at the gorgeous Hyatt hotel downtown – with a perfect view of the city. Natalia + Derek chose not to see each other before the ceremony + watching their anticipation for that first moment was really special to see. We photographed some bridal portraits around the church’s uptown location – which provided a lovely brick + ivy backdrop – one of my favorites! The ceremony was sweet + followed by additional portraits in the Cheesman Park neighborhood – which was perfectly golden in color (lucky for us). The reception was fun and eclectic  + held in the Art District of Denver at the Artwork Network gallery (a REALLY unique and cool space for a reception, future brides!). One thing we loved about this couple was how creatively planned every little detail was – to reflect their life (even opting for VooDoo donuts in place of a traditional wedding cake). They’re our kind of people! Enjoy some of my favorite photos from their beautiful day:

Colorado Springs Wedding Photography | Melissa + Chris

Happy Tuesday!

I wanted to share some photos from a recent June wedding we photographed in Colorado Springs. Melissa + Chris are a perfect pair – they are incredibly light hearted and fun but also ridiculously head-over-heels, passionately in-love. The ceremony was held in beautiful Shove Chapel on the CC campus, followed by a sunset reception at Briarhurst Manor. For most of the day it looked like we might get some rain – but it held off – and the lighting proved to be magical! Chris + Melissa are not only incredibly sweet themselves – but their families and friends are so kind and warm – this was the most dance-filled reception Nathan and I have ever been to – quite impressive! Overall, this was a perfect summer wedding – beautiful details, a gorgeous couple in-love and a REALLY fun reception. Melissa + Chris – we wish you all the happiness in the world!

Happy summertime everyone! I haven’t blogged at all the past few months – as I’ve enjoyed days at the park, taking care of our garden, traveling to Europe with Nathan (London, Paris, Disneyland Paris and Copenhagen)! I’ll have to post something soon and share some of our fun photos from the trip. Life is good right now …. really, really good.

I wanted to share a few of my favorite photos from a Longmont wedding we photographed back in April. Natalie and Eddie are two of the most genuine people we’ve met as clients – they love each other, have built a beautiful life together and they are so much fun to be around! Spending the day with them was enjoyable and we’re so thankful they allowed us to capture it!
